Training and Consulting Services

Leica Geosystems offers high-quality and comprehensive training which is specifically tailored to the special needs of public safety agencies.

Our training covers hardware, software, and proven workflows designed to give users the skills they need in order to laser scan a scene, then extract out the exhibits needed to support the mission.

Quality assurance and quality control are given special attention so that users will be able to testify in court with confidence.

We also offer a variety of consulting services designed to assist agencies with development of SOP's and best practices.

 

Personnel

Training for Leica's Public Safety Group is led by Mike Cunningham our Training and Service Operation Manager. When you become a customer of the Leica Geosystems Public Safety Group, it is Mike who will assess your training requirements and either deliver them himself, or draw upon a deep reserve of instructor talent available to him through his contacts.

After a 26 year career, Mike retired from the New York City Police Department in 2012 as a Detective 1st Grade and the senior ranking Investigator in their Crime Scene Unit. In addition to his many years of CSI experience he was a forensics instructor for the NYPD and is a Certified Instructor for Department of Homeland Security course "Advanced Forensics for Hazardous Environments" and "Integrated Response to WMD Incidents". As a contractor for the U.S. State Department he served as an International Police Instructor for "Forensic Examination of Terrorist Crime Scenes" delivered to US anti-terrorism partner nations. Mike served his country with distinction and professionalism for ten months at Ground Zero in the aftermath of September 11th. He is an IAI Certified Crime Scene Investigator and a New York State Certified Police Instructor.

 

NEW TECHNOLOGY DEPLOYMENT CONSULTATION

Designed for public safety agencies desiring assistance from experienced forensic investigators with incorporating new measurement technologies from Leica Geosystems into their existing operations.

Comprised of eight hours of consultation delivered in 1-2 hour blocks over several weeks via phone calls, web meetings, e-mail and web survey. This introductory consultation will provide fundamental information to assist project managers with planning and will highlight important issues requiring consideration for policy development.

Available for High Definition Scanning (HDS), Total Station, or GPS / GNSS measurement technologies

  2. Completion of e-form survey by the client to identify needs and requirements
  3. Web based meeting with consultant and agency project management team
  4. Follow up on action items identified (telephone and e-mail communication)
  5. Delivery of written overview report outlining critical issues that require attention
  6. Web based meeting to review report outline with project management team

 

STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE DEVELOPMENT

Designed for public safety agencies desiring assistance from experienced forensic consultants in formalizing; safety, operations, training, proficiency and quality assurance policies for Leica Geosystems measurement technologies into their operations.

The service is comprised of forty hours of consultation delivered over the project period via meetings, phone calls, web meetings, and e-mail and web survey. Upon conclusion the consultant will provide written policies and standard operating procedures designed to ensure work is properly carried out by adequately trained technicians and that the digital evidence produced is properly archived, enhanced, reviewed and maintained in compliance with accepted standards.
