A technology test at an Etzanoa excavation site in Arkansas City, KS, demonstrated the potential of the new Leica RTC360 laser scanner for both archaeology and crime scene investigation.

Ryan Rezzelle, a former CSI investigator who now works for Leica Geosystems, joined Wichita State University anthropologist Don Blakeslee and WSU forensic science program director David Klamm at the dig site with the RTC360. The test showed how the new technology can scan a large area, 360 degrees, in just a few minutes and then transmit the high, dynamic-range photos within minutes to a tablet or handheld computer device to provide an accurate map view of the scene.
