CTV News Winnipeg – Forensic investigators with the Royal Canadian Mountain Police (RCMP) and Winnipeg Police Service measure skid marks, analyze crash scenes, conduct crime scene investigations and build compelling cases from the evidence, all from the station after the scenes have been cleared. The Leica ScanStation laser scanner has made a big difference in their work. Const. George Kullman with the Winnipeg Police Service calls the solution a game changer. “I can see a time where it will be used for every homicide certainly, and all of our serious and fatal collisions, and … serious assaults,” he said.
