Spokane PD Accelerates Scene Documentation with New Laser Scanning Technology
Compact size, ease of use, versatility and extreme speed are just a few of the reasons the Spokane Police Department is excited about its newest crime and crash scene documentation technology – the Leica RTC360 laser scanner. “It starts scanning and collects over 2 million points a second,” said Spokane officer Ben Maplethorpe in an interview with KXLY News, who explained the department would use the point clouds to create 3D maps. “This can be used in any major crimes case or collision investigation, anything that the detectives may need more in-depth photographs and measurements.”
